It is an opportunity for local Restaurants and Bars to post when they are hiring, and solve the lack of Hospitality staff in El Paso. I chose to base the logo on the locally found Prickly Pear, a Cacti used in local cuisine. In addition, I complimented it with illustrations on other local plants, the Franklin Mountains, and the sun (referencing the Sun City).

The word Tiffin originates in Southern India during the British rule. It means light meal time. I created the logo and packaging based of the traditional Hindu culture of Southern India. Starting with the logo I used the Hindu Goddess of Food and Nourishment, Annapurna. Her warm grace is reflected in the Sri Yantra inspired packaging.")

Nuestra Voz, or Our Voice, is a program to assist sexual harassment and sexual assault victims. I used sketchy shout line to show the need of being heard for this matter. I show how this needs to be loud, and people need to be heard.")

I used the focus of the main character, Alex, and drew a silhouette of him. The title is hand lettered to be his brain, to show the focus on his mental state. The lettering is styled after the letters in the bar, where Alex and his gang have drinks at the beginning of the movie.")

They’re providing appropriate personal protective equipment, facilitating social distancing in their businesses and using technology possible to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Buy El Paso is a local campaign to support these local businesses. Free T-Shirts were given away to promote it.")

I redesigned their logo and designed custom takeout containers. Starting with the logo I looked into the Southern Chinese providence Hunan. Hunan is traditional and known for agriculture. Additionally, it is the birth place of Mao Zedong. I based the look off of Chinese Communist Propaganda and placed a sickle in a bowl with sun rays.")

About
Gabe Herbig studied Graphic Design and Drawing at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). In 2017, Gabe began her interest in Design by joining the Queer Student Alliance. Initially interested in Anthropology, Gabe was inspired to switch majors. In addition Gabe has worked as a Graphic Designer at the UTEP Library, El Paso Community College, and currently works at Atomic Marketing. Her work has also been featured in multiple exhibits held by UTEP, the AIGA, and the Green Hope Project.
