Contest Finalist - Creative cover for an Archeological academic journal

I designed this creative concept for the cover of electronic publication of "Manuscript and Text Cultures" journal that is published by an academic research centre at The Queen's College, Oxford. As they study a variety of cultures, I used abstract glyph patterns here instead of scripts of specific culture, in the shape "C" of the logo inspired by the old "manuscripts, inscriptions, and text cultures". I used bold yet earthy colours here instead of plain washed out colours that are typically used in academic journals which make them look serious and boring. Every published issue can be represented with changing background colours keeping the template and overall design same.
