Please 3-4 flat colours at most; may be printing with processes for which gradients do not work well, even though gradients otherwise fit the style well. Ideally the logo should degrade well into greyscale.
Something friendly, modern, and clean highly preferred. Very drawn to modern corporate logo style in Brazil and the Iberian Peninsula. Azéotrope/Azeotrope is a chemistry term for a mixture of two fluids which cannot be separated by distillation or freezing. Please do not worry about including lettering as a major element. The logo will be used with and without the name, and I will provide suitable type alongside the logo as needed. Focus on design, on good colour use, and a shape which is both fluid and clean. Flat colours are required, no gradients. Please consider not just doing lettering; consider drawing upon the chemistry, like: a single-colour outline of a separatory funnel in green filled with a green fluid. Play around. Don't confine yourself to modifying type!
