My father, David Mariani was recently named Director General of this non-profit organization. It never had a website before and I am helping him put one together.
The World Centre was founded over 30 years ago by Patricia Di Giorgio as an adjunct non-government organization (NGO) of the United Nations committed to sustain the founding principles and ideals of the United Nations. Today, as before, the unsalaried leadership of the World Center is comprised of a board, civic leaders, regional representatives, professional organizations, and a growing number of volunteers.
As we know, the UN aims to bring all nations of the world together to work for peace and to meet a variety of global and developmental challenges, based on the principles of justice, human dignity, and the well-being of all people. This is done by giving the opportunity for countries to balance global interdependence while preserving national interests. However experience has shown that the UN has mixed results on global sustainable issues and solutions crossing sovereign borders. This where the World Center comes in.
Our audience are everyday people, top business leaders, organizations, heads of state and countries who are looking to get involved in an organization to help our World. We want to grab their attention about the message.
The World Centre picks up where the UN leaves off. The World Center expands the notion of global cooperation to include regional as well as territorial common efforts in a way the world has never seen. It does so with the conviction that the future of the world lays in our collective hands.
With the rapid globalization of ideas and markets the World Centre will be in a position to help facilitate the development of sustainable multi-culturalism and bio-regionalism; to help facilitate consensus for new international agreements and policies for governance. The World Centre is also committed to facilitate sustainable business models for tomorrow’s leaders.
See - http://www.worldcentre.org. It is the website that I designed, but it is too boring and needs a big lift.
I want a very catchy homepage - possibly the world (globe) in the world centre logo to turn. You can feel free to spice up the logo. I want to call out getting involved. We want to make it an open forum for people of all races, religions, ages, backgrounds to come together to express what their region, city, town needs and/or how they can contribute to issues in their area or other areas around the globe.
See the website for reference. I would like you to design the 'about us' page and the homepage. I want the homepage to be eye-catching and interesting - needs images that reflect the world centre spirit. The about us page - needs some more images or interesting way to keep the viewer attention. Our content would need to span all these tabs but I don't want to make you design all of them just yet.
Resource Center - see our current website for what we want. - Want the google earth mapping tool on this page too. Presented in a different manner than the homepage.
Source tools that enable World Citizens to explore similar problem in their district and learn from other the solution approaches used.
The resource centre will be an interactive social networking tools employing the best of breed networking platforms such as YouTube, twitter, Google’s world Citizenship tools.
Home Page - right now it has the history, but need it to be more eye-catching and interactive. I want an interactive map that shows the 12 bio-regions of the world. Sign up for more information tab, how do I get involved, bio-regional map that is interactive where you roll the mouse over and can click on the different regions of the world. Google Earth - global awareness. We want to make the spinning globe link the a layered google earth. We want google earth embedded into the website. And also an open forum area for people to be able to blog about what they see their region needs and/or how they can help.
It seems cold and boring. I want to call out getting involved. We want to make it an open forum for people of all races, religions, ages, backgrounds to come together to express what their region, city, town needs and/or how they can contribute to issues in their area or other areas around the globe.
Right now there is a lot about the history of the site on the homepage and it seems very corporate. I want the feel to be more inviting. Want to call out to get involved but I do not want to appear to be asking for money (no donate now signs blasting you in the face).
http://www.worldcentre.org - will give you all the content you need to get a feel for the organization.
http://wisergirls.org/ - I like the feel of this site - I like how the logo changes as the mouse goes over it. - Imagery is good (not the same for our cause).
http://www.glocalventures.org/ - I like the layout, interesting how the picture is in the background. I like how they call out to donate and/or get involved.
Google Earth - global awareness. We want to make the spinning globe link the a layered google earth. We want google earth embedded into the website.
