dbmysplendour got their new web page design by running a design contest:
*** Venture-Backed Beauty Booking Platform***

Cosmetics & Beauty
We are an Australian based marketplace platform that allows customers to search, book, pay and rate/review Beauty Professionals, whenever and wherever. (Free to use) Target Audience: 18-40 year old females who are in to Beauty as well as the Beauty Professionals themselves. Branding: needs to feel premium and exclusive as we will only be selecting certain professionals to join, not everyone can sign up as a professional - to give it that VIP special treatment feel
I would like a clean, simple/minimalist and modern design that focuses on quality easy bookings for beauty services (makeup, hair, eyebrows and eyelashes - services we currently offer). Website Examples: www.stylisted.com is the closest to resemble my platform in terms of how it works (please refer to this in terms of understanding what information is needed on the home page), whereas the others are very similar, but act more like a directory. See below for a breakdown. Inspirational Websites: www.vaniday.com.au - Pros: nicely spaced, without scrolling the cover/banner image, search bar and how it works is visible (would like mine spaced to show these 3 elements + the 4 Services without needing to scroll). Menu is simple and the white contrasts nicely against the dark opacity of the cover image and allows their theme colour (peach) to stand out. 'Featured on' section looks nice with the background image, I'd like to leave my featured logos only without the testimonial (Huffington Post, BuzzFeed and Lifehack). The use of the iphone showing glimpses of the 'mobile version' really builds the association with the viewer, allows them to envision what it would look like for them-- would be nice to have something similar, but include an apple desktop monitor and laptop displaying the home page on these devices. Cons: How it works doesn't stand out enough, font is too small - would like to have a bit more info on it + icons. Footer is too wordy/clustered. Instead of special offers and featured salons, I'd like to devote this space purely just for the services (makeup, hair , eyebrows and lashes) displayed horizontally. www.styleseat.com: Pros: Has a simple and gentle feel to it. Cover image demonstrates the branding nicely (carefree and beautiful). Good use of the white spacing and balance of colours (not too much on the eyes). 'Are you a professional stylist' - relevant section to have as well. Cons: Browse and Discover, too many boxes and clustered. I would keep this simplified. In this case, my platform would just replace this whole section with the 4 services that we offer. Colour Palette - refer to the link below: Happy to have suggestions/recommendations https://coolors.co/84dcc6-a5ffd6-ffa69e-464646-ffffff Alternatively- i really do like black and gold together as well (so if you feel that you can work better off that sort of combination than the first palette, feel free to go with that) Photography: Cover image: An image that expresses a feeling of being carefree, demonstrates beauty/glamour - ideally a facial expression as the main focus or if you have a better idea feel free to choose it and if possible, adopt with the theme colour palette Other images: 4 beauty services (makeup, hair, eyebrows and eyelashes) Apple iphone, laptop and desktop monitor displaying the home page on screen Footer: I'd like something a little creative for this part, shoot me your magic - my only request is that the colours is compliant with the colour palette. Menu - centred would like this to offer a transparent drop down Please refer to the 'what websites can designers draw inspiration from - snappr.co for my main reference'
Logo: Transparent fill, with MySplendour written next to it Tagline: Where Beauty meets Connection Subline: Connecting Beauty Services to You Words must not cover the face of the model in the cover image Search bar
What to avoid
Nothing too clustered so a good use of white and spacing. I am not a fan of information being displayed in boxes, i'd rather round edges or perhaps even circles to give a soft touch.
Winner of this contest will be awarded with more opportunities to design the inner pages, given the large marketplace platform, there will be an abundance of work. *I leave quick and extensive feedback on every design - Your development is crucial to OUR success! **Prize is GUARANTEED** ***Looking forward to working with you, let's make this happen!***
