Our forthcoming website, bigtrip.com, will be a travel oriented “deal of the day” website. We are using groupon.com and livingsocial.com as the models for how we would like our own site to function. Ideally, we are looking for a designer that we can work with down the road as our business develops and the site evolves. Please note that we do not have a logo right now. We do not want the logo to dictate the design of the site, therefore we will be holding a separate contest for the logo after the web site contest is over.
People who like travel deals. . .which is pretty much everyone!
We’re going for a modern, Web 2.0 feel for this site. Please do not design based on any of our past contests. We want something totally new and original.
The site must be easy to read, easy to use, and easy to navigate. The key word? EASY! Because the homepage will showcase a deal per day, there will be a lot of information in one place. Therefore the design must be able to present that information in a non-cluttered way. Good organization is essential.
Right now we don’t have any colour preferences (although this might change as we begin to view some of your designs).
It’s important that the site design projects a cheerful, fun, friendly aura. We don’t want something overly designed, but some cool custom icons and such would be a plus.

Navigation should include: Today’s Deal, Recent Deals, How It All Works, Sign In
Featured deal should include: Very clear & enticing “Book” button, price point, discount %, time left to buy, how many people have already purchased the deal, space for a picture & text description of the deal.
We also need space to place extra content about the company offering the deal, specifics about the deal, discussion section, etc.
Other elements that need to be included on the page: Social media icons/share buttons, sign up for our email newsletter, refer a friend module, ad space.
“Your Purchase” section that includes line item descriptions of what is in the customer’s cart, the quantity, and price.
Payment method section with form fields for personal information (Name, Address, Telephone, Email, Password), and credit card information.
