scottaxa needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 54 designs submitted by 14 freelance designers.
Require:
1 x logo
1 x home page
1 x results page
Though on layout and what to use where as we'll be pulling data in from an API via http://uk.shopping.com/xFS?KW=mobil…es&CLT=SCH
phones2u.com
We require:
1. Professional logo
2. Homepage
3. Results page
4. Thought on layout and layout location for maximum ease of use for the user
We are redeveloping http://www.phones2u.com using an API connected via http://uk.shopping.com/xFS?KW=mobil…es&CLT=SCH – please visit this site and type in “mobile phones” what you see on this page is what we can pull in via the API. The idea of the site is that users can search for mobile phones / deals and compare them, see reviews and click on the links which will open another window to the advertisers site.
Whilst we can pull in everything from this site via the API we require thought to go into the layout of what data you pull into the page and where. Some parts we really want to have are:
1. Search box
2. Breadcrumb
3. Price ranges
4. Brand (a lot of folks will look for brand first)
5. Ability to sort on different criteria eg best match
We would also like an area on the homepage that we would be able to put in the most popular phones at the time, this will be manual and not via the API.
Aims:
The aim of the logo is to make the site look professional, modern, trustworthy and tie into the idea of searching for the best mobile phone deals
The aim of the homepage is to get across the message that you can search and compare to save money, be easy to use, easy to find what they want in different ways, eg search, see phones, see deals, on price, etc.
The aim of the results page is to output the results in a way that blends with the design, look and feel and also easy for the user to see everything they need, easy on the eye etc.
The aim of the layout is make it easy to use, the most useful data in prime page areas etc.
We will be making the site targeted to screen res 1024x768.
I look forward to seeing your ideas.
