Looking for a very fun, clean and attractive design for a girl's arcade. 2.5 pages total
Chix R Us
Hello,
To capitalize on the girl flash games that will be created, we are looking to launch a website that our games will link back to. For this, we'd like to have a pretty basic arcade site, with a design that is anything but.
We'd like a very neat and organized layout, with colors that keep in mind our target audience (girls, usually in their teens).
We will need about 2.5 pages. The homepage, the game display page, and the category listing page, which will likely look almost identical to the homepage (hence the 2.5)
- Main navigation that lists game type "dress up", "wedding", "celebrities", "make up" etc. This should be in such a way that I can expand it with subcategories. For example, if we go with an across-the-top navigation, I'd likely do dropdowns on hover of a specific category to show subcategories. If we did a sidebar nav, I'd likely slide out subcategories beneath the main category.
- Area for clickable logo in the header, which would preferably sit next to a leaderboard ad (728x90). This, IMO, would be the most efficient use of space in the header area. I'm open to ideas, as long as a leaderboard and cube ad make it above the fold.
- Site should be 2 columns, the smaller column large enough to fit a cube (300x250) ad, and then any navigation, friends links, or "featured" thumbnails that may be shown.
- Site should have a search bar somewhere easy to get to.
- Content area should be clean and easy to follow. Many of these girl game sites throw as much as possible into a small area.
- Content area should feature thumbnail previews of games as well as a rating and a title for each game. These can be shown permanently, on hover (as in a tooltip) or overlayed over the thumb on hover.
- Content area should also contain pagination so that users can easily browse.
- footer should be neat, organized and show general links like privacy policy, contact, webmasters etc. As well as display partner links if not displayed elsewhere (such as the side column)
- Game display page should have the actual swf displayed, as well as the title, rating, description, tags and a section where I can provide linking/embed code, and addthis.com code
- Dark layouts. The site is targetting young women, so it should be colored so (even if stereotypical ;) )
- Cluttered layouts. Nothing worse than going to a site and not being able to make heads or tails of anything because of all the crap crammed into the page.
