BrentCsutoras got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Clean & Modern Golf Related Website Needed!
Check out BrentCsutoras's Web page design contest…
Looking for a clean, modern, and creative community friendly website devoted to Golf. Current news, opinion articles, resource articles, product reviews, course reviews, and everything else related to golfing will be discussed on this site.
Initially we just want the main page and the post page. Once we decide you are in the running to win, we will ask you to do a product review page as well. We will provide an example to pull inspiration from, but you do not have to start on this until you are informed to do so.
Header (we have logo, so just let us know format you need) We prefer the logo with the logo on top and the words under. -- Accomodate 728x90 ad box Top Navigation: -- will be coded as text over a background. -- NEWS | EQUIPMENT | LIFESTYLE | COURSES | ADVENTURES | BLOG -- We want to have a sub-navigation bar as well. A good example of what we like for the sub-navigational bar ishttp://www.vanityfair.com/business, where it has the two lines. Feature Article Box: This will be coded to rotate stories with the previous 4 articles as smaller thumbnails. Ideal would be to have the main article on the top left of the body, with the 4 additional thumbnails to the right from top to bottom, matching the height of the main feature article. A good example of this is http://amog.com/, however, the design is not what we think works for this type of site, so the example is only for the layout of the elements. Below the feature article we would like to have category boxes, 2 wide and going down 2 rows for design purposes. Each having the 3 most recent articles. A good example of one format we like is the 3 links here http://www.linksmagazine.com/, just below the feature article spot. Links magazine is only one row. Another example of this would amog.com, but again the design is not what we think works for this type of site, so the example is only for the layout of the elements. The Amog example runs into the sidebar, ours would only be two columns wide and not run into the sidebar. Again, use the above examples for formatting more than exactly what we want. They need to fit with the whole site. Sidebar: -- Accommodate 300x250 above the fold -- Run the length of the site. We will put things here like search box, social media buttons, ads, latest PGA twitter updates, leaderboard, popular posts, newsletter signups and other things. Footer: -- We are going to make a taller footer and will probably put all the categories, social buttons and other information there, so please design to accomodate us coding in these. See http://www.taylormadegolf.com/ andhttp://soleredemption.com/ for example of what we are thinking. * In addition to the main page, we will be looking for an article and product review page to be designed, but we will only ask for those when we feel the initial page design is a possible winner. Creative Aspects: -- We’d like to use some subtle golf elements throughout the page that add a touch of originality and creativity to the site. We’re really open to anything, but would like to stay away from standard cliche golf images. Below are some ways we can think of to incorporate these elements, but we’re not the creative one’s so please go your own way with this. - Graphics/images that take up the header, background, and footer while keeping the site at the forefront. The design could possible incorporate all three and run the length of the page. - Golf icons for our sidebar posts - Social icons specific to golf, squared social boxes with golf ball dimples , twitter bird with a golf club... We’re not looking for these elements to overpower the site, but more as a vehicle for viewers to recognize that this is a golf website at first glance. -- When it’s all said and done we’re essentially looking for an easily recognizable, clean, creative, and modern GOLF website that has a good amount of information, easy to find that information, and flows smoothly from top to bottom.
