This is a design for a 2018 United States Senate Race That I am “Testing the Waters” for...
This contest will move fast and I will decide quickly on a winner. In other words, I am not going to string this contest out. You will get paid fast.
This needs to look and feel high end. Political sites, by and large, all follow a similar look and feel. Pretty boring. I want this site to stand out as different, new, and engaging.
The site will be IMAGE and MOVING VIDEO based. You can see the site examples below for what I like about the sites.
The site must be able to be built in WP.
Site should be animated in both video and image.
Example of site animation is at my current site: http://www.EdRush.com (notice how the pages build as you scroll)
Example of video animation can be seen at site examples below.
You will be judged BOTH on your site concept as well as any past work you have done. It helps me to see any functional sites you have built.
Please add placeholder content (i.e. Words) on all of the pages. I will provide a full doc for this at site build.
The “Good Stuff” menu is actually a BLOG. Please build it as such. You can see my current blog page at: http://edrush.com/the-good-stuff/
The main page should have the bar on the http://www.EdRush.com homepage that says… “Ed and His Books Have Been Featured On…” along with the images. (Feel free to change the images to match your site design).
Ideally, I would like the site to have the ability to one-click turn it into Spanish language. This is a “nice to have” and not a “MUST. See this page as an example: https://marcorubio.com/ (again, we can do this later as needed)
There will be 5 total pages. Each one should match site branding, but be unique. I will outline more of what I am looking for on each page in another section below.
Why No Party?
The Good Stuff
UPDATE (1/11/17) - Several designs are using the menu nav from my OLD site http://www.EdRush.com. Please use the new nav above.
Examples of Sites I Like
Below are some sites I like for look and feel.
Please note why I like these sites.
I like the way the home page builds.
I like the left side navigation that pops in (although I DO want nav buttons on the main page)
I like how the site builds when you get to each new scroll.
I like the video on the home page
I like when you click on this tab: http://uncharted.sunbrella.com/athlete/ that the images build out the way they do.
I like the fonts, color scheme, and the home page animation.
The way the site flows and builds is “just ok”
I like the menu nav and flow.
I like how the menu moves to the top as you scroll down
I like the image-based site build...especially the use of background images.
In general, use the colors you find at http://www.EdRush.com and on this image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/di02iw79q…M.png?dl=0
LAST...AND THIS IS IMPORTANT - In the background and on the general theme, be sure to add in some patriotic kind of themes, like American flags or fighter jets (like the F-18 - which I flew during my time in the military).
Feel free to stretch the limits of these colors.
Just remember, this is a US political site, so there needs to be some red, white, and blue.
Resources for You
There are a TON of images for you to use here.
By and large, use your creative capability to mix and match what you like. You can see how a previous designer did this well (using a similar image stack) at http://www.EdRush.com.
I like the idea of mixing the following:
shots of me in action
Shots of me standing (i.e. Posed)
Shots of me with people
You are also welcome to find any stock photography that you feel fits a certain category or tab. (I will buy the images when needed)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Many of the speaking images already have branding on the screen behind me. Ideally, I would like these background images exchanged for something that matches the branding on this image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/di02iw79q…M.png?dl=0
You can take small clips from this video to use on the video animated pages
“Nice to Have”
Should you make it to the finals, it would be great if you were willing to offer a bid to code and build your concept on my domain. (NOTE - I understand this will be extra work and you will be compensated for this. Last time I paid $850 for the build and code on my EdRush.com site. That’s a general budget you can expect for extra work on an additional project. Again, you will be paid extra for this. It just doesn’t do me any good to have to go find someone else to code my project.)
The entire design brief is outlined in detail here:
