They approached me to create an identity system that could help them differentiate from other brands in town. Rather than a traditional promotion-based communication, the brand needs to embrace celebration and happiness. To make the identity system more memorable it was decided to portray the brand with the innocence of a child to attract parents and connect with them on an emotional level. A strategy had to be introduced that could increase the product’s value without drastically affecting the cost of production. With a fair share of their consumers being kids, I decided to create an identity system that kids would love.")

After a long gap in sketching, I challenged myself to create a detailed illustration that could narrate the royalty and rich history of the club. I took inspiration from the victorian type and art nouveau and mixed it up with my comic-style sketching to show the ornate elements that could represent the history and pride the club has gained over the years.")

Inspired by the decorative-classical design patterns seen in the carpentry works of Kerala, I decided to come up with a serif logotype for Roots Magazine. The basic parameters I set were to do justice to the meaning of the word ‘root’, and also not to go completely decorative and colourful—which is usually used to depict the northern region of India. I decided to
go with diagonal stress as it would help the readers while viewing it rotated 90° (depicting the growth of a root). The ‘o’ & ‘t’ forms a decorative ligature similar to the ‘ct’, ‘st’.")

I came up with the name Vélo a short form for ‘velocity’ (in French Vélo means bicycle), which blends in with the vocabulary of the targetted audience.")
