I am an independent author who also happens to be passionate about running. I recently 'rebuilt' my running technique using principles devised through my own research. This eBook is the first of its kind in making running and the complex area of biomechanics understandable for runners of all levels of ability. The book takes readers through a complete learning cycle: awareness, showing/demonstrating, explaining, trying, practicing, reflection, and training. Everybody can run better, enjoy it more, sustain fewer injuries and improve their competitive performances … we just need to know how. Good running technique is for everyone, not just those on the cusp of Olympic glory. Running should be enjoyable and pain free. Injuries should be the exception, not the rule. Performance improvements can accrue through improving technique, not just training harder. I recently launched a test website at http://www.runningtechniquechannel.com - this will be shortly moving to http://www.runningtechniquetips.com which is under construction. I purchased exclusive rights to the 'runners' logo by conspicuousgraphics to brand this technique tips website.
Readers are both male and female and likely that the primary focus will be between ages 30 – 55 with good levels of education, access to technology and moderate to high levels of disposable income. People that want to improve their ability to run for the health, enjoyment, injury prevention, social and also competitive reasons. If anything I believe by a small majority that my readers will be female. Runners of all levels take their passion seriously, they also tend to maintain a sense of drive and hope about their running, even when things are not going so well. They are prepared to follow and try new ideas about running if the believe the advice is good and that it could help them run faster or avoid getting injured.
eBook cover - the image is for display purposes on smashwords.com, amazon.com, iBookstore, Barnes & Noble etc.
Any text on the cover must be crisp and clear as the image will be shrunk to thumbnail size per the above websites. All the cover elements need to look good when small.
The eBook cover needs to be shaped like a normal book (a vertical rectangle, not a square) and should include the book title and author name. 500 pixels wide by 800 pixels tall is a good dimension and .jpg is the preferred file format. The image must be RGB.
I also want A4 & A3 print ready images of the cover.
Book title: Running Technique
Author: Brian Martin
Foreword by Philo Saunders PhD, Senior Physiologist, Australian Institute of Sport
When I think about the cover these words spring to mind:
• Friendly / approachable
• Trust / safe / credible
• Motivate / inspire
• Learning / knowledge
• Empowerment / I can do this
• Hope / accessible / any person can do it
• Logical and well written
• A new perspective on an old problem
I have no preconceptions about the image, the genre is dominated by covers with very fit looking elite runners on the cover - I'd like to stay away from this. I want the book to be inclusive and inspiring without losing the sense it's a serious book about running. Web ad project follows.
