Kinnelon Library
Well, we're a public library! We're located in an upper middle class community in northeastern NJ. We run an annual summer reading program for kids, teens, and adults. Each year, we distribute approximately 500 imprinted bags, free of charge, to our summer reading participants. The bags are meant to hold reading books, but are also used for transporting groceries, beach materials, clothes, etc.
**We will gladly print the name and website of the winning designer / design studio in our newsletter (mailed to 3000 households) and publish it on our website.**
Our website is kinnelonlibrary.org.
We are giving these bags out to our summer reading participants -- adults, teens, and children, all ages, all genders. We have done this for the past five summers. This is primarily an upper middle class, largely caucasian, highly educated community. The bags are for readers, but please don't think of stereotypical readers only!
You are designing a *three-color* graphic design to be printed onto a beige laminated tote bag with a dark brown border (see the attached picture 2011 bag, but imagine your awesome design on an unimprinted bag). Remember, this is tote bag printing, so high resolution, bold design, easy to read, no fine print or shading, etc. The imprint area is 10 inches wide by 8 inches high, on the front pocket, so it has to fit within that area.
What do you need to convey? Three things --
(1) FUN!!!!
(2) Reading
(3) Summer (the sun, ice cream, a beach ball, a pool ... use your imagination; y'all are more creative than me!)
The design MUST include the following information, in any way you'd like to incorporate it --
(1) Kinnelon Library
(2) Summer Reading
(3) http://www.kinnelonlibrary.org
It should be fun, eye-catching, and appeal to young and old, all genders. Kitschy is fine, especially since we took a more streamlined approach last year. But that might work again, too. Surprise me!
