Techs on Deck
I'm a Tech. Now, a Tech is a combination of a bunch of different things... Sure, I fix computers, and printers, and networks, and ipods, and clock radios (and so on) for money. Some people in my shoes call themselves Geeks. That's cool, but it's only part of the picture: A Tech is a Geek plus a diagnostician, a teacher, a therapist, a handyman, a consultant, and a friend.
I strive to be all of these things to my clients, who are often at the end of their ropes with anger, fear, and frustration about "this &^@%*$! computer that won't give me back my photos/thesis/quickbooks/emails/irreplaceable-so-and-so!!!"
My company specializes in demystifying technology, empowering users, and making things WORK as soon as needed. We fix things FAST and fix them WELL, and explain to people in clear and simple terms how they can tame their machines and make them work exactly as they want them to.
Ever see the Dog Whisperer? We're kinda like that: We bust down the door (figuratively), immediately lull the computer into submission with our technical dominance, then teach the owners how to be "technically dominant" like us.
All this in (usually) less than an hour.
My business serves middle class families in NJ, small and medium business owners, and small financial institutions (credit unions, etc).
They may not know a whole lot about computers, but they know what they need. They need things to work, and they need them to work as soon as possible.
They need to invoice their clients or they'll have to go back to that job at Home Depot that they hated. Their kids need to finish a paper that's due on Monday or Mrs. Applebee will fail them for the year. They need to buy "The Best of INXS" from Amazon because uncle Cosmo's birthday is next week. They need to comply with state network security standards or they'll lose their accreditation when they get examined next month.
And they're frustrated, scared, or depressed because they don't know what the hell PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA means, or why it's keeping them from doing what they need to do.
I want something that will appear professional, but at the same time, be bold and cool. Think Geek Squad but less "geeky/nerdy/dorky" and more professional/expert/technical. We aren't geeks--we're TECHS.
I'd like the primary colors of the logo to be blue, black, and gray, but feel free to express yourself and the image I'm trying to convey in whatever way you see fit.
I want the word "Techs" to be prominent in the logo, with "on deck" being slightly less stressed.
Cool typography should be the primary focus of the logo, with a graphical design/emblem supporting. I want to avoid abstract graphics, and instead use something "mechanic" or "greasemonkey" themed like wrenches and screwdrivers (again, feel free to forget this and be creative--you're way better at this than I am).
