Star Dog needs a new logo

Star Dog

We are looking for a logo to introduce Star Dog to the world. Star Dog is a "One for One" t-shirt company focusing on donating t-shirts to children in need. Our concept works much like the famous Tom Shoes (for every t-shirt you buy one gets donated to a child) With that said, the logo needs to appeal to men, women and kids. This logo will be used on t-shirts as well as business cards, website and promotional materials.

Added note: Hi Designers! I have received a few messages that my description brief is too vague. I know that there are a lot of dogs out there and a lot of different fonts. The reason for vagueness is my husband and I disagree on the route we should go on the logo design. He wants a retro modern abstract design and I like a cartoony fun design. That is why we came to 99 designs - not only to keep peace in the marriage, but to get an outside opinion, maybe find something in the middle.

So what do you think? What should a company that is donating to t-shirts to children use as as their logo? What would you like to wear on a t-shirt ? What will "pop" and make people say "yeah, i want one of those" ? Please keep in mind that (1) the logo will be put on t-shirts and (2) the t-shirts are sold to adults in adult sizes and the children sizes are donated and (3) logo needs to appeal to man, woman and child. Additional Note (2):  I just added a doodle by my husband in the file section of Design brief.  Maybe someone can work with this.  "star" at Top "dog" on bottom and image inside star in middle.  Thank you.

Additional Note (3):  I am loving the character designs but we need to see more abstract wok to be able to make a decision.
