EncoreConnect is a start-up non-profit agency based in San Francisco that places dedicated, experienced adults in meaningful part-time jobs in social purpose work in education, healthcare, social service and environmental arenas throughout California.
There is increasing evidence that millions of Americans from the baby boomer generation are seeking ways to find more meaning in their lives and make a difference in their communities. If retired, they don’t just want to play golf and bridge all day; if still working or looking for work, there is great interest in switching from private sector jobs to “encore careers” in social purpose work. (See http://www.encore.org for more context on the encore careers movement.) There is huge media interest in the “encore” movement and EncoreConnect is on the leading edge of this phenomenon.
The winning design will appear broadly online and in print, first throughout California and later across the country. We will provide attribution for the designer on our website and could likely have future work as the business expands.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Adults 50+ seeking to improve their communities and be involved through part-time social purpose work (many will be transitioning from private sector jobs), and hiring managers in non-profit agencies. Probably skews 65/45, female/male, highly educated.
We are looking for a clean, elegant logo, and are interested in considering either an all type logo and/or one with a graphic element. It should be no more than two color and also have black & white and knockout (all white) versions that work. We also want to see how the tagline - Experience. Passion. Purpose. - would be incorporated in terms of type and color. Because we are targeting multiple industries, including education, healthcare, social services and environment – green could be problematic as it may be seen as environmental.
In surveys and focus groups, some thought EncoreConnect conjured up a dating service or online ticketing service for theatre or music events, so it’s important to avoid designs that indicate technology or music/performance, or dating. Our assumption is that the tagline (Experience. Passion. Purpose.) will help avoid some confusion.
