We're a fledging web startup working to make maintenance scheduling and tracking easy and automatic. We want to convey a culture of informality while always maintaining professionalism. Our corporate idols are companies like Google and 37signals: places loved by employees and customers alike, and who have a reputation for great products and overall goodness.
Maintenance tracking software is a market niche currently underserved by garish, creaky desktop apps that haven't changed in 10 years. We intend to change all that and bring the power of Web 2.0 to the maintenance personnel masses! We plan to provide our web app on monthly subscription plans, so our customers will probably be both small and large companies. It's important that our logo inspires confidence in them that we are trustworthy and reliable; after all, they're counting on us to keep their inventory maintained and up to date!
We're looking for a logo that is clean, bold, and instantly recognizable as ours. Nothing too ornate or detailed... ideally, the design would still look decent in black and white, or at smaller sizes. I'd like the logo to include the company name, Maintaino (preferably capitalized) with a graphic either alongside or integrated into the lettering
For the font, I prefer sans-serif fonts; I envision a font that would look good in a magazine headline. Nothing too offbeat or funky; we're web 2.0 but we don't want to be seen as too risky to more traditional companies in slower-paced industries.
The logo graphic should not be too visually complex. I like the simple logos of 37signals products (http://37signals.com) or Google products, for example (although obviously don't just clone their styles). The primary feature of our app is automatic periodic reminders we email to our customers when scheduled maintenance is coming due, so the logo graphic could incorporate that idea somehow, for example: a clock, a representation of a "reminder", a check mark (to signify completed maintenance tasks), etc. However, these are just some ideas off the top of my head... if you have a clever idea that goes in a completely different direction, run with it and we'll what we think.
Please provide the following variations of the winning design:
- Color on white background
- Color on black background
- Monochromatic: black on white
- Monochromatic: white on black
Also, I'd like the following file formats for each variation:
- Native format (Layered Photoshop PSD, Illustrator, etc.)
- SVG file
- High-res TIFF file.
Also, I would like to know what fonts are used in the design, so I can download/purchase them for use elsewhere on my website.
