Mahnie needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 137 designs submitted by 46 freelance designers.
My website is six years old and showing it's age! As a designer, I find that my own identity works is always put on the back burner.
I need a fresh look!
I want to break out of the mold I've been in and I'm happy to pay another designer to help me do it. I want someone else's creativity to give me a kick start! I will build an entire new brand around the chosen design if I love it - business cards, letterhead, invoices, and of course a new website!
Sheriar Designs
You can see my current logo in use on my website. I'm not sure if I want the new logo to be reminiscent of the current logo/website or not, but I do know I want it to be fresh - a departure from what I currently have.
I make a lot of use of my avatar, and you can see how I've been using it in my mail signature. I'm basically torn between this "pink" branding of "me" and the "blue/green" branding of "sheriar designs." Since I can't decide between the two directions I've been basically stuck. That's why I need you!
You can read a little about me and also get a sense of my aesthetics by viewing my portfolio. The portfolio hasn't been updated in a little bit so I'll list here some of the designs I've done that I like the best:
- Bay Nature
- Saurated Glow
- Love Letters
- Creative Flux
- Writr
- DDMWeb
- NK DesignsI went to art school and so have that kind of background, but I also really love coding and problem solving - that's where the tagline, Impeccable Code, Beautiful Design" comes from. It was also the inspiration for my original logo, where "Sheriar" was was in a mono-spaced sans-serif-ish font and "Designs" used a more unique font and font treatment. I'm not totally married to any of these ideas, but thought the background might be helpful.
Also, just so you know, the little "symbol" (of the three boxes) simply came from the design of the site ... it doesn't really mean anything, and I'm not particularly attached to it, although I don't need it go either.
- Something beautiful that reflects my artistic side
- Somthing crisp that reflects my coding side
- Something unique
- Possibly in the blue/green pallet that I already have or in a pink pallet ... or, I'm open
- Possibly with some sort of symbol or mark that is either reminiscent of my little "3-box-bug" or something new
- Can incorporate the tagline "beautiful design, impeccable code" or not. Or, ideally perhaps there are two versions, one with or one without. But if it doesn't incorporate the tagline I will incorporate it into the web design.
- Nothing too "web 2.0-ish" - I want something original that will last, while also feeling fresh and modern, but without the sense of being too "trendy"
- I don't think I want an overload gradients or shiny look, although subtle use of either or both can be nice
- I don't want anything cartoonish
- I don't want anything too "girlie" - although a little girlie would be ok. ;~)
- I don't want primary colors (especially not black or red)
