Communily (communi.ly) is my upcoming re-branding / re-launch of what was previously Mobdog (mobdog.com) -- a web platform for building community via sharing (in the form of classified ads and threaded discussions). Users and real-world community leaders create their own community site, and then customize messaging, classified categories, and discussion topics. Community types include: companies, apartment/condominium complexes, schools, churches, and neighborhoods. Membership in any single community can be either email-restricted, administrative approval required, or open / public. The idea is that users will join multiple communities (their school, apartment complex, church, company, office building) and will browse, communicate, share, and post classifieds in all of their communities, either cumulatively, or individually.
The primary idea behind the site is its ability to build closer real-world communities via online sharing and interaction. For example, when you buy something via Craigslist, it's very unlikely you'll ever see that person again. But when you sell your old baby stroller to a neighbor via Communily, or sell tickets to a game to someone who works in the same building, or participate in a discussion about your child's upcoming school auction, you're creating ties within your real-world communities, and possibly building better, deeper, more important real-world relationships.
Please feel free to check out mobdog.com for more information about target markets, features and functionality.
Domain-wise, I own communi.ly, as well as communily.org. I may eventually buy "communily.com", as well, but if the "dot" in ".ly" becomes a critical part of the logo, I'll just stick with that.
