VoxTrot
I recently left a position working in investments for the venture capital arm of Richard Branson's Virgin group, where I conceived, incubated and launched a boutique/lifestyle hotel chain. I love to travel, am passionate about languages and spent a large part of my professional life living and working in South America and Spain. Some website designs i like are Mint.com, hulu.com, groupon.com.. I love the virgin logo, the FedEx logo, and the crowdfusion logo, and the logo for needakick.com. haha. seriously, i do like that logo a bit. though without the gray background.)
Anyone who wants to learn a language... (and i have never seen a resume that doesn't mention the desire to speak a language!)
Phase one market is the Hispanic market in the US, though the brand and logo need to be aspirational and appeal to many more markets. The company aims to be the largest consumer brand in the language learning space. While Rosetta Stone is static, boring lessons, and priced at the high end of the market, Voxtrot is a fun, easy accessible option
Here is my best stab at a creative brief.
Voxtrot means ACCESS:
… 1) understanding a language OPENS your mind to a new the new world around you (through the looking glass.... through the keyhole... a glimpse)
….2) MOBILITY. freedom. the ability to learn the language lessons you chose anytime and anywhere. And lessons will always be relevant to you - wherever and whenever you study
Voxtrot= VOX plus TROT
VOX
- Find your voice
- Vox = voice (Voz in spanish)
- communicate
- understand the world around you
- turn up the volume of the world around you
TROT
- An effortless movement
- agile and quick
- Trot through the language game and your lessons
- Trot through life while you study and play the game
- implies speed, facility
- trotting isn't running; its moving quick, but still enjoying
FOXTROT
- dance is communal - a form of intuitive communication
- movement
- army langyage symbol for F
- easy to say and spell
- clean and sounds fast
