The iQBS is a new institute at Dartmouth College (http://www.dartmouth.edu) that will promote education, infrastructure and research at the intersection between bioinformatics, biostatistics and experimental and observational biomedical sciences. Interdisciplinary science and collaboration is our primary goal.
Biomedical scientists and students in academia and industry interested in biological sciences, biomedical sciences, math, statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, genetics, computational biology, systems biology, and complexity.
A logo could include the letters iQBS with or without the full name of the institute. Ideally the logo would convey the relationship between computer science or math or statistics AND genetics, genomics, systems biology, medicine or similar. We are located close to the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Incorporating a mountain or nature theme would be nice. Use of the Dartmouth green color would also be nice but is not essential. Pine trees could be used or snow (we like to ski here). Another possible theme idea would involve networks or ideas from complex adaptive systems. Inspiration could be gained from gene regulatory networks or from protein-protein interaction networks. Cellular automata could be used for inspiration. Incorporating a representation of the human body could be nice given our close ties with clinical and translational research.
