How GEM Environmental started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
GEM for STEM
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a scientific nonprofit offering underrepresented students with new and exciting opportunities to advance their scientific careers. We are looking to establish a recognizable logo for our charity that provides scholarships and internships to aspiring students interested in the STEM fields of study. We created the Hashtag #GEMforSTEM that we want to use when referencing the charity side of business. The acronym for our name stands for Geology, Engineering, Minerals, Environmental so we would like to use symbology that reflects these fields as well as an overall scientific feel, however, we prioritize our efforts in the Earth Sciences (mainly geology). Our organization's corporate logo incorporates a gem, so we want to stay away from the gemstones for this "GEM for STEM" logo. We need something catchy that we can put on t-shirts and banners to support our volunteer projects and interns on project work while preforming scientific studies in the field. I would like to have the logo and slogan bounded by outline. We would like to capture the feel of an official seal for a professional society. Feel free to check out our website at http://www.gemenvironmental.org
Items that might reinforce the design:
"Geology - Engineering - Minerals - Environmental"
"Science is for everyone"

Please check out our website for information about our business and charity, there is plenty of information explaining who we are and what we do. We are scientists and tend not to be very artistically inclined, but blocky and literal, we will leave the creativity and imaginative speculation up to you. http://www.gemenvironmental.org
