Algol is a name of a bright (eclipsing binary) star, it comes from the Arabic word 'الغول' which means demon, we choose this name for two reasons, first the founders of this startup are two brothers and the binary star represents those two figures in their unity and harmony, secondly Arabic is our mother language and we wanted to tap into Arabic astronomy because many of the most famous stars have Arabic names which are still used till this day. you can read more about this binary star here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algol We (IMHO) believe that we can build a strong brand atop this name and the fields of astronomy (which we love!) and mythology (which we love as well!) are two excellent sources for both inspiration and knowledge.
