I'm passionate about urban society and culture and activating for positive change in the urban environments in which we live, work and play.
I'm all about social sustainability and I am hugely excited about my new consultancy, which will be out there working for change through urban and social planing and policy advisory.
I'm a Sydney girl, recently returned from London and happily ensconsed in the fabulous inner city neighbourhood of Newtown. I'm taking the leap out of a senior role in urban and social sustainability policy advisory in the corporate sector and ready to start activating for positive change in our cities through my own smart, sexy, creative consultancy.
I really can't wait and I hope you'll play a part in this by kicking things off with a smashing logo. I mean what could be more important than improving our cities, physically and socially. The time is now.
This company is at the cutting edge of urban and social policy and practice. It's young, it's funky, it's collaborative and connected. It's well and truly embedded in the sustainability sphere and it's rearing to become a true thought leader and social innovator and activist.
My business' strapline is: 'influencing urban outcomes'.
My target audience is urban planners and developers, along with a range of commercial, government and non-government organisations working in urban and social planning and practice.
I'll be selling my leading edge research and advisory services to government at all levels as well as the full range of firms in the development sector - architects, developers, urban designers, construction contractors.
I will be marketing to established sectors along with new and emerging organisations operating at the leading edge of the sustainability sphere - environmental and social sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
Mine will be a flexible, adaptable firm which appeals to this broad audience, some of whom are leading edge, some of whom are more established and prone to conservatism (ie the development sector).
My vision is as follows:
The company name IS the logo. It's a simple elegant representation of the name, Urban Affect, in the perfect, fresh and bold typeface.
The typeface is simple, bold, unadorned. It's clean, crisp and very cutting edge. It's different - but not too different. But it's slick and very stylish. Perhaps it's a Script typeface (not too script, but a hint of script).
It's in a stunning, complex shade of blue (tending toward the turquoise or a little darker than sky blue end of the spectrum). It's a stylish and complex, unusual colour.
I envisage the words mirrored horizontally, perhaps?
I am very happy to consider other design possibilities including colours and typefaces, although what is described above is a strong vision in my mind. So go for it!
The main thing is to keep it crisp, clean, simple, very stylish and very hot and leading edge.
A lot of my work will be at the cutting edge of the industry and I want this logo - the typeface - to be bold and fresh, yet very palatable.
