American Hijab Design Contest
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
This is a cutting edge fashion design contest--the first of its kind. It is looking to create the new avant-garde--a hijab style that is truly American. Hijab is a Muslim woman's style that covers everything but the hands, face, and feet. Those who see a woman in hijab automatically assume she is foreign. This association with foreign often leads to hate crimes and violence against these women who wear hijab. This contest seeks to inspire designers to come up with a truly American hijab look that is stylish and cutting edge. And with an all-American look, we hope to rid society of the association between hijab and foreign, as well as the hate and violence that comes with it. Cutting edge, American fashion and human rights is what this contest is about.
