The Forked River Gazette, a regional newspaper has been in publication since 1971, when started by the original owner, Mr. Joe Stewart. My mother, Valerie R. Entrup, started collaborating with Mr. Stewart by selling advertisements and eventually purchased the company in 1982. Valerie created a true following of both loyal readers and advertising clients. Throughout the years Valerie operated the publication more as a passion rather than a job and her established business contacts became lifelong friends. My mother passed away in 2001 and her spirit is still with the publication and company. Valerie’s legacy was her ability to unify the community through The Forked River Gazette, and as a result, I, her daughter today, carry on that same legacy. In 2007 and for the first time in our 37 year history, we augmented the publications image by having both a traditional hard copy print publication along with an online working web presence. We would like to invite you to review our growing web site for further reference us on our website: www.forkedrivergazette.com. The Forked River Gazette is a “magazine” styled publication. The Forked River Gazette publishes on the first Thursday of each month. There are articles, recipes, interesting club, community, topical and library news, plus much more. This project (new logo) is part of an overall re-branding we are about to embark on. Our new brand will be the cornerstone of a new growth to position us for transforming ourselves for a community publication of 5-7 towns to a larger region (The Jersey Shore/Coastal area) that encompasses a growth of more than 5 times our current size and scope. While our growth is contemporary, strategic and a broader culture we also want to honor our tradition so we desire our new brand to embrace tradition, culture (small, community). Equally in part to honor my mother I would like a “rooster” to be part of the design, even if in a background or something barely noticeable however perhaps secretly embedded in the design to pay homage to her (mom LOVED roosters and is why a rooster is our current logo). We ask you to be creative in how you can blend tradition along with our vision to modernize and grow.
