How melinda.crockom started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
"Kari's Law", or "No 9 Needed"
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
A logo to convey no 9 or additional digit need to reach 9-1-1 in an emergency situation. When someone attempts to dial 9-1-1 from a multi-line telephone system (MLTS, also commonly called PBX), in the past, they had to dial 9 or another additional digit(s) to reach an outside line. With Kari’s Law in place, MLTS phones now can call 9-1-1 without dialing an additional digit.
In 2013, Kari Hunt was stabbed multiple times in a hotel room by her estranged husband as her children stood outside the bathroom and heard her cries. Her then-9-year-old daughter repeatedly dialed 911 but was unable to reach emergency responders because she didn't understand that the hotel phone required her to first dial "9."
Kari’s Law was signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott in Texas in 2015, and into federal law by President Trump in 2017.

We are seeking a logo that helps describe and reflect Kari’s Law. We would like to limit the colors to reds, blues, black, greys and white, since it represents 9-1-1. Would prefer to have the dashes included in the number 9-1-1, if the number is utilized in the logo.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?

The logo would be used online and on t-shirts, pens, etc that would help educate the public about Kari’s Law, therefore we do not want a too detailed design.
-Vector artwork preferred.
