Sababa got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create a logo for a Mediterranean fast-causal restaurant concept
Check out Sababa's Logo design contest…
Sababa is a Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant concept located in San Francisco, CA. "Sababa" is a hebrew and arabic slang term which means "great, awesome, cool". We are using local, organic, and sustainably raised ingredients to produce customized meals in the form of salad bowls or house baked pita sandwiches. The atmosphere and design of our restaurant is cool, clean, and modern. We are a growth oriented business with aspirations to grow into a national chain. Our demographic is between 20-40 year old. Students, professionals, foodies, and hipsters interested in fresh and healthy Mediterranean cuisine served in an artfully designed setting.
Logo types to explore
We welcome your creative entries based on our our descriptions but we are also interested in examples utilizing the following: Thumbs up (a symbol which is the equivalent of the slang word "sababa") Please make sure these do not resemble the facebook "like" THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE BRAND. I have added a text based logo I put together below, and would like to see more versions of this design. With different color (reddish orange) etc. *Please Note: We do not want overly ethnic or arabic stylized font. We are going for a more modern, clean look.

Wow! Veasna thoughtfully absorbed the brief and my crude sketches and made it all into something very beautiful that is true to the spirit of my company. I feel very lucky! Great communication, awesome design, patient with my needs. I will definitely be working with this designer again. Highly recommended.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
