I've just got off the phone with our CEO and "moose expert". He has
gotten an oppurtunity to look at your designs and he was enthusiastic
about the potential! Good!
Here's our general feedback and additional guidelines, after posting
this I will get into individual feedback:
(Please excuse my lack of scientific terms, I hope our message gets
across anyway. If not, post questions and we'll do our best to explain
We did some joint google image searching and I now have examples of
what he would like to see the moose in most designs look like. Our
moose most often have antlers that are either A; small base with
pronounced, larger points or "horns" or B; a large shovel with smaller
points along the outer edges. The front most points on each antler can
be individually larger than the further back ones, however not
separated from the "shovel".
Moose with antlers containing A and B, that is, both showel-type and a
separated, pronounced front horn section, are less common here.
Therefore We would like the B-type as described above for the final
Here are two links to pictures that he felt describes the moose in our
area with B-type of antlers quite close.
No.1 is a quite accurate example. The antlers should have slightly
shorter points. This moose is just slightly less tall in the front
than normal because it's front legs seem to be standing a bit lower
than it's hind legs.
No. 2 shows similar antlers with the front 3-4 points on each antler a
bit larger and ever so slightly separated from the rear ones but still
within the same "shovel".
That's it regarding moose and antler type. These are the general
guidelines that apply wherever the intention is to depict a moose
close to "real looking". For those of you who have submitted or are
planning to submit designs of a more stripped down, stylized type the
guidelines are for natural reasons more loose.
Please feel free to give us feedback on our feedback as well as
suggestions, this is our first logo-contest ever so your thoughts and
guidance are most welcome!
For any additional designers and entrys please observe the following:
- We want to focus on designs containing moose. Not reindeer, red deer
other other deer. The design needs to contain a part of or an entire
moose. Detailed, sketched or silhouette is your choice depending on
- The area where we operate is between the sea and the mountains and
comparatively flat. It doesn't have many mountains and the few we
localy are not that big. Therefore the design should not illustrate
big mountains or mountains with sharp peaks. Any mountains
should be "softer".
Original Notes below:
- With our new logo we primarily need to communicate Northern Swedish
- The moose (not Elk) is an important animal for our business, we
offer moose safaris and certain times of the year even moose
- We do NOT want the logo to communicate hunting.
- If you want to incorporate tree/trees they should be pine trees as
our forests mainly consist of pine trees.
- The English version of our company name is "Svansele Wilderness
Centre". We wish the logo design to be compatible with either name as
we vary usage depending if we market ourselves in Sweden or
That is, 2 variations of the final logo, one with the company name in
Swedish and one version with the company name in English.
Instead of incorporating the company name into the design it might be
better to keep it separate. We need your help to decide.
