Olivos del Sacramento
This is a family/life project. I am a single mom with two teenagers and have put my life savings on a olive tree small farm near Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Olive trees take 7 years to mature and next year's will be our first almost-full-grown harvest (5 year old trees). This year we produced 500 liters of what turned out to be a premium quality olive oil, just enough to send to different olive oil experts to taste and give it away to create interest on our future harvests.
Uruguay is new to olive oil production, and the City of Colonia del Sacramento is a very special place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coloni…Sacramento. It was founded in 1680 and its old city was designated World Historical Heritage by the UN.
Our market will be quality restaurants and delis and olive oil boutiques around the world.
We will sell on the strength of high ratings and quality, the result of traditional production process.
Our oil will be essentially the juice of olives, pressed on site, as soon as they are harvested with no chemical interventions or enhancement.
We would like something that refers to the country, since as I said Uruguay is new to the olive oil industry.
The name already makes reference to the region in Uruguay (Colonia del Sacramento) because of the "del Sacramento" part, but maybe using something that has the "historic flavor" would work well.
I am attaching a file with something I came up with, but I am a numbers person, SO YOU CAN FEEL FREE TO COMPLETELY IGNORE IT. In any case it is not appropriate for a logo (too much stuff, too big, more for a label), but you might want to design a logo keeping in mind that hopefully it will become part of a label that you will be requested to design too (and whatever else we will need to design if we are successful)
The rays of the sun I sketched attempt to be similar to the ones you can see in the Uruguayan flag, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:S…ruguay.svg
and the branches under the lettering are olive branches roughly similar to the ones appearing to the right of the Uruguayan coat of arms: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped…ay.svg.png
Underneath the sun I attempted to depict what an olive grove looks like. Olive trees are planted on a slope, in rows in the direction North-South.
These details aim at giving you a feel for the project, not required to incorporate to the design
