The Bearracks
The Bearracks is a social networking startup that targets the bear community - a masculine subgroup of gay men. We're building the first fun, community-driven site (and mobile apps) that are inclusive of the whole bear universe in the US and around the world.
Gay bears and cubs - a masculine subgroup of the gay community are the target. They will be using this product on their smartphones and the web to socially network with each other.
Read more about the bear community at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear_(gay_culture)
The logo should be a combination of an iconic graphic and text.
The graphic image we had most in mind was a pair of slightly rumpled camouflage cargo shorts, but we're open to masculine/army imagery that fits with the "pun" of the product's name (like army barracks)...ideas like dog tags, aviator sunglasses, etc. all work - but we are open minded.
We like a "bubbly" or Japanese pop-art sensibility, and something that is both masculine and playful would be ideal.
The gay bear community has a flag with a color palette that is relatively well-known (we've attached it to this request). Please try to avoid using the bear claw (you'll see it in the flag) as part of the logo.
The output should include an iphone app icon (so consider a scaled down version of the graphic without text), and a full logo (graphic and word mark) for web and in-app usage.
