Scott8u got their new logo & business card by running a design contest:
Sophisticated & Fun Logo for New High-End Restaurant / Bistro - Fanta
Check out Scott8u's Logo & business card contest…
Fanta is the owner and head chef's nickname. The concept is a small, high-end bistro / café serving Thai inspired fusion dishes and desserts. Target audience is foodies and young adults.
Logo should be simple, distinctive and recognizable from a distance (located on a walking plaza). Chef Fanta also runs two successful Thai restaurants (www.BanChokDee.com) and a cooking school (www.BCDacademy.ca). The food in the restaurant will be Thai inspired (fusion), but we don't want to specifically identify as a Thai restaurant (subtle is ok). Sample menu is attached (previous working name for the new restaurant was BCD Bistro). The menu would be constantly changing. UPDATE - Please disregard the use of Scott below. It doesn't seem to be working out, and the designs that we like the most do not consider this. Thanks... One idea we had was to incorporate symbolism into the logo using representative background images that are relevant to the restaurant, but that also spell out husband / partner's name, Scott. Sample attached to give a very rough illustration of this idea. For example, S could represent 'sweets', 'spices', 'seasoning', 'salt', 'salmon'... C could represent 'chili', 'cocktail', 'cucumber', 'cauliflower'... O could be 'oyster', 'oils', 'orange', 'oven'... T could be 'tea', 'Thailand' (or representative Thai symbol), 'tapioca', 'taro', 'trout', 'tuna', 'turnip'... It doesn't have to be blatantly obvious - the relevance of the images to the restaurant and the look of the logo would be most important. The name-play with the background images would be an 'inside-joke' that is symbolic of Fanta and Scott's long term marriage and partnership in the business - customers would not have to understand to meaning. Chef Fanta is the public face / personality of the restaurant. We are totally open to other ideas as well.
