Smoky Trout Farm began as partnership between Dan Menard and his son, Max, in 1998. Since then it has diversified to offer complete pond and lake enhancement products and services.

Our customers range from acreage owners to farmers, to oil companies to large cities.
The primary focus of our marketing is on the pond/lake enhancement products and services as we already sell out all of our fish each year.
We would like to maximize opportunities with our fish customers - these tend to be 50 + and reasonably affluent. Simply by making them aware of our full product line will potentially increase our sales
Municipalities - we have installed a number of aeration systems and other equipment at a number of municipal lakes. We would like to capitalize on this success and actively reach out to other municipalities (so far we have always been contacted by them. To do this we recognize that our image needs refining. We must come across as more professional than we do.
oil and mining companies - there is opportunity for us to sell both pond/lake enhancement products and animal deterrent products to companies that have tailings ponds etc at their operations. We have done some of this already but it has been reactive instead of proactive.
Recently, I - Dan's other son, Ray- have also joined the business. So it is still very much a family business. We would like to have "family business" feel our branding while at the same time coming across as very professional and knowledgable.
