Once again, an incredible job by an incredible artist! Thanks Marcin.
- Andrei Bat
Andrei has done it again, doing the fourth and final cover for my series. I couldn't be happier.
Susan is incredibly creative and downright supernatural at being able to put images to my words. She's also attentive, with quick work and response times. We had some other good designs but she seemed to have the talent plus quicker understanding of what I was going for. Loved working with her.
How jenlG started their book cover journey
Jen Ponce lives in the Panhandle of Nebraska with her three boys, three cats, and a goldfish named Reggie. She writes about kickass women and oogy monsters.
Fiction, Dark fantasy
A dark fantasy about loyalty and betrayal, monsters and their prey.
Devany Miller is a wife, a mother, and an advocate for victims of domestic violence. The most magical things in her life are uninterrupted bubble baths and chocolate bars she doesn’t have to share with her kids. Then she stumbles into another world where humans are bought and sold like meat and she’s the next item up for sale.
A dying witch saves her, but Devany goes from one fire to another: she ends up bound to a demon who wants to use her to do his dirty work, but she doesn’t let anyone push her around—not even soul-eating nightmares.
Staying alive, avenging the witch’s death, all that pales when the danger rolls right up to her front door and she’s forced to do whatever it takes to protect her kids.

Book cover type
What colors do you want to see in your design?
I'd love a cover that has a person on it. My main character is a late 30's mom, advocate, and kickass woman (though she doesn't know it at the beginning.)
I'd enjoy something that really says Dark Fantasy to potential readers.
My story is a portal fantasy with strong horror elements. The Bazaar is a place where human body parts are sold to people who need to boost their magic, so if there's a way to convey the horror of that bazaar, that would be cool too.
I do have a spider assassin in the book that wears human skins as camouflage. At one point, she crawls out of the dude she's hiding in to scare the crud puppies out of the witch she's hunting. (She's a big spider) That would be something fun if done right.
I added some book covers that struck my eye and got me to buy the books. They each tell me a story before I even picked up the book to see what it was about.
I don't have to have a person on the cover if the picture starts to tell a story that makes people want to see what's inside.
What to avoid
I don't want an over-sexualized cover. I don't want someone in high heels or odd poses that aren't natural.
I don't want parts of people (weird floating eyes or naked torsos)
This is not a paranormal romance. It doesn't have any romance at all, actually.
I don't want my character looking weak. She shouldn't look subservient. She shouldn't be on her knees or laying down etc... Devany is the focus, not the demon. Only exception would be featuring Neutria the spider.
