Author biography
Fan Xiaoqing, A native of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, Fan Xiaoqing was born into a family of intellectuals in Songjiang, Shanghai, in 1955. After graduating from the Chinese Department of Soochow University in 1982, she became a teacher of literary theory at her alma mater, but soon found herself more interested in writing than teaching, and so switched to professional writing three years later. Fan is a diligent, prolific writer. She has published over sixteen novels, seven collections of prose, and numerous short stories. Her Romance from Kudang Alley, A Hundred Days of Sunshine, Urban Expressions, Women Comrades, “City Living, Country Living,” “Rui Yun,” “Ying Yang Alley,” and other works have not only won great critical acclaim, but are also widely popular with readers young and old. Fan Xiaoqing is now on her third term in office as the Chair of Jiangsu Writers Association.
