ankur N got their new banner ad by running a design contest:
Silicon Website Slider
Check out ankur N's Banner ad contest…
We are a high-tech silicon & chip corporation, with special focus on memory chips.
What's your vision?
Hello All, This is a project for a Slider (either 3 or 4 pages) to put on our website homepage (www.signalsemiconductor.com) Introduction: We are a silicon/chip startup company (SignalSemiconductor), with experience in very high-speed silicon and chip-design background. We have made several generations of a super-computer on a chip in our past experiences, and we now aim to create worlds first low-cost, high-density and very high-speed SRAM memory. Traditionally, market is dominated by SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM), which is what the market usually refers to as RAM (also known as DDR, DDR2, DDR3, GDDR, etc). Static-RAM, on the other hand, is much less known, more expensive and higher-speed type of memory, which is used everywhere (Your CPU cache is SRAM). With our experience, and recent technological advances, we now are at the point of fabricating a high-density SRAM memory, which would be able to compete with the traditional SDRAM. There are many engineering advantages (Speed, Immediate Access, Lower-Power). In short, SRAM vs SDRAM is pretty much SSD vs. Hard-Disk-Drive. What we need from you: Our website is SignalSemiconductor.com (which is being formed as we speak). We need a slider on our home page (could be 3 or 4 pages), to demonstrate who we are, and aesthetically add to the value of the website, making it feel very professional and formal (yet nothing cheesy, alien-like or toy-like). Many technology-websites use similar sliders to introduce themselves. Here is a list: www.Achronix.com www.pmc-sierra.com www.cypress.com www.xilinx.com Here are the things these slides need to demonstrate: 1) Speed: The priority is the designers creativity. However, if you search for "Differential Signal Eye Diagram" on images.google.com, you'll see what we know as differential-signal diagram. In electronics, this diagram exists where speed reaches the extreme, so it may give you a symbol to play with. Again, you could use something completely different and win the contest. 2) High-Tech: We need something to show we are a high-tech and a serious player in the industry. Your creativity is priority number 1, but you could also play Silicon-Chip (or Silicon Wafer) as a starting point. Again, if you had a better idea, please go for it. 3) Low-Cost: Existing SRAM solutions in the market are between 50 times to 300 times more expensive than their SDRAM counter-part. This is one of the reasons they're not used in the industry much (other than CPUs). They are very expensive. We will be making affordable high-speed SRAM chips (15$ instead of 300$ for example). This makes it possible to use SRAMs in designs. 4) The fourth slide could be up to you. Anything that adds to the value of the business could be helpful. Demonstration: We really appreciate if you take a snapshot of our website, and put your slider there, before you submit your design with review. This gives us an idea of how well the slider goes with everything else. General Strategy: Remember the sliders must be elegant, yet very simplistic. Please avoid Alien-Like, Cheesy-Like, Heavy-3D, Toy-Like or anything that draws too much attention, makes the site look complicated or outweighs everything else. We will be very quick in providing feedback. To give you an example, we get more than 800 submissions for our Logo (which was also designed here on 99designs) before it even get to the final round, and we even selected the winner before final, as designed had matured to the point of saturation. Please let us know if you had any questions. Thanks
The attached picture will give you an idea of what has to be put on the chip. I've been a bit creative regarding style, etc. Use your own creativity with the provided lines of data. (Whatever you put on the chip should be plain-white. Don't use colors, the provided label is just to give you an idea). Thanks

ankur N collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Creativemicdesigns did an amazing job!! He was professional but also completed the job in a timely manner. We will be using his work in 4 different magazine ads. I definitely would work with him again.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
